Summer Museum Series: Magic of the Museums
Summer travel is meant for adventure, discovery and fun. This summer, we're bringing the magic of Chicago's local museums to the Hotel Allegro with our 'Magic of the Museums' program, held every Friday and Saturday from 4:30 - 5:30pm, between June 6 - August 30, 2014 in our hotel lobby.
The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum - June 20, 21, 27 & 28. Pop-up exhibit "Skulls, Furs, and Bones, Oh My!" and "Animals Up Close!"
On Fridays, learn about collecting natural specimens- fur pelts, bones, fossils and preserved animals of all sorts. Join us to see and touch real scientific specimens. Find out how scientists learn about animals from these artifacts. You might even get the chance to see a couple of live animals as well.
On Saturdays, meet at least two live animals from the Nature Museumâs collections. See & touch a native turtle or hold mealworms and darkling beetles. Learn how the way an animalâs body is shaped helps it to survive.
Lincoln Park Zoo - August 22 & 23. Pop up exhibit: "Feces Save Species"
From the rump to the research lab, poop can be found in many forms at Lincoln Park Zoo! Explore the science of endocrinology, including how samples are collected at the zoo and in the wild, and learn about how what we do with feces can help us save species.
Adler Planetarium - August 29 & 30. Pop up exhibit: "Stomp Rockets"
Summer is the best time for some out-of-this world science! Join the Adler Planetarium to build and launch your own paper rocket in "Stomp Rockets," and try other hands-on activities great for explorers of all ages including UV (ultraviolet) and thermal beads, which can be used to make a bracelet and show the power of the Sun. And don't miss the opportunity to "go beyond" and explore your universe at one of Chicago's premier museums--the Adler Planetarium.

Summer is here, and school's out for teachers and students alike. At Hotel Allegro, we're rewarding hard working teachers and educators with savings of 20% off our best available rates for Thursday - Sunday night stays, all summer long until Labor Day.
