Wedding Couple Welcomes Friends and Family

Andrea + Jimmy

A Windy City Romance

Chicago “I Do’s” with a Mediterranean touch

Andrea and Jimmy’s wedding journey began with a classic Christmas season proposal story at Rockefeller Center’s iconic ice skating rink in New York City. Being Chicago locals, however, they knew they wanted to have their wedding in the city they call home.

The couple’s wedding at Hotel Allegro drew inspiration from their cultural heritage (Italian for Andrea, Greek for Jimmy). This included dancing portion of their reception in the Walnut Ballroom starting with a handful of traditional Greek songs, a wedding cake was even decorated with olive leaves and a generous assortment of Greek and Italian pastries for guests to sample throughout the night.

The couple was sure to make use of the support and services provided by their wedding coordinator Alyssa and the greater Hotel Allegro team in turning their wedding day dreams into reality, ensuring careful attention was paid to every detail. From the cultural nods to the rich autumnal décor (a mix of gold, maroon and burgundy—perfect for their November nuptials) to the crowd-pleasing food selected for the cocktail hour and reception, the couple enjoyed an unforgettable day at Hotel Allegro.

Memorable Details

Andrea and Jimmy took the process of selecting a wedding venue seriously, visiting spaces all over Downtown Chicago. It was the art deco design details of Hotel Allegro that caught their attention. “The feeling that we get when we enter Hotel Allegro cannot be replicated elsewhere. The design of the hotel transported us to different era and had such a wonderful energy,” they said

On the big day, Andrea and her crew of bridesmaids, junior bridesmaids, flower girls and mothers of the bride and groom enjoyed music and snacks during their wedding day glow-up AKA hair and makeup in Hotel Allegro’s glam Starlet Suite. Meanwhile Jimmy and his groomsmen spent the morning practicing their Greek dancing skills in the couple’s wedding suite.

We think it’s pretty wonderful that any time we want to be transported back to such an amazing day all we have to do is stop by the Hotel Allegro.

The couple made use of several of Hotel Allegro’s dynamic event spaces following their ceremony at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. A jazz trio entertained their 200 guests in the Savoy Room while Andrea and Jimmy snuck off to the Crescendo Lounge for a few special moments alone (with appetizers and prosecco, of course) as a newlyweds. For the reception, the Walnut Ballroom was lit with a warm golden glow creating a romantic autumn ambience.

"Working with Alyssa Alexander and the catering team helped solidify our decision [to choose Hotel Allegro]. We don’t have enough good things to say about how special they made us feel not only during our engagement period or our wedding day, but continuing one year later."
